Ambassadors:
The Ambassadors is an organization whose mission is to engage young adults, ages 25 to 40, who are busy starting their
careers and families back into the church. Through social and spiritual activities we hope to invigorate the participation of
young adults on the local and national level, as we are the future of our church. For more information or to join the

Finance Committee:
The Finance Committee audits, plans and makes recommendations to the Parish Advisory Council on all financial matters
pertaining to the operation of the Church of St John the Baptist. For more information or to join the Finance committee,

Ladies Society:
The Ladies Society is responsible for managing church events, including but not limited to religious functions as well as
fundraisers for the church and other charitable organizations as see fit by the Parish Advisory Council. For more information

MAYA:
The mission of the Melkite Association of Young Adults (MAYA) is to unite Melkite Young Adults, ages 18 to 25, in
fellowship, prayer, and spiritual growth while strengthening the bond between them and God. For more information or to

NAMY
The National Association of Melkite Youth (NAMY) is created to provide a common forum and activities for all youth 13-
18 years of age within the Eparchy of Newton. The organization is to initiate, coordinate and implement religious, social,
educational and humanitarian programs designed to promote the involvement of its membership in the Christian Faith and

Outreach Committee:
The Outreach Committee aims to reach out to parishioners, non-parishioners, and new comers belonging to the Melkite
faith. The goal is to cater to parishioners’ interests in the church, create a welcoming haven for new comers, and establish
bridges between St John the Baptist and other churches. For more information or to join the Outreach Committee, contact

Parish Advisory Council:
The Parish Advisory Council acts as a representative body of the Parish in common with one another and with their Pastor
to meet, deliberate and act in common agreement on those matters for which they are responsible and which concerns the

Planning Committee:
The Planning Committee makes technical and financial recommendations to the Parish Advisory Council on projects dealing
with alteration, addition, or replacement to the physical structures of all properties under the jurisdiction of the church,
including fundraising and financing those projects. For more information or to join the Planning Committee, contact the

Property Maintenance:
The property maintenance committee oversees the physical properties under the jurisdiction of the church, and makes
recommendation to the Parish Advisory Council on any projects dealing with preventive and needed maintenance and
landscaping. It also recommends the purchase of any parish equipment. For more information or to join the Property

Religious and Education Committee:
The Religious and Education committee coordinates and supervises a total program of spiritual growth to meet the needs of

Scholarship Committee:
The Scholarship Committee was initiated in 2006 and aims to award scholarship grants as approved by St. John the Baptist
Melkite Church’s Parish Council. The main objectives are to encourage our student parishioners to pursue higher education,
reward them with a small token of appreciation and assistance, and encourage them to live up to the church's mission
statement: To grow spiritually as one community in the Body of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit in the Antiochian
Melkite Tradition.

Social Committee:
The Social Committee is responsible for coordinating and/or initiating parish life activities. It plans parish social events,
establishes a calendar of parish activities, coordinates the activities of parish societies, and organizes any committees if
necessary for better parish life.
The Ladies Society is responsible for managing church events, including but not limited to religious functions as well as
fundraisers for the church and other charitable organizations as see fit by the Parish Advisory Council. For more information

Spiritual Committee:
The spiritual committee is responsible for raising awareness of the spiritual life in Church members and ways in which we can
all participate in it . The chair makes recommendations to the pastor on ways and means to inspire parishioners to turn their
hearts and souls to God first, then to each other in loving service. The committee gives monthly talks on spiritual issues of
relevance to parishioners. They may also offer Bible study, silent prayer sessions or retreats.
